The family and friends of Joseph Statsick were stunned by his death which occurred while on his way from his home south of Woodbury to the U.B. church at the village to attend prayer meeting last Thursday evening. His wife tried to persuade him that the walk was too much in the snow and cold but he was determined. He had not been so very well lately but h ad been very happy reading and singing sacred songs, and his mind turned toward the prayer service at the church.His son Arthur was with him. He was taken with a slight spell when over a part of the way, calling to his son and fell forward. When raised he was found to be gone. He had arrived at the church not made with hands. The funeral was held at the United Brethren church Sunday, conducted by Revs Lyons and Ickes. Burial was at Lake Side cemetery. OBITUARY Joseph W. Statsick was born in Friedrichsgraetz, Germany, Feb. 5, 1852 and passed away Jan. 24, 1924 at the age of 71 years, 11 ms, and 19 days. He died while on his way to attend prayer meeting at Woodbury. He came to America with his parents aa the age f four years and settled near Galt, Ontario, residing there until 15 years of age when they moved to Caledonia, Michigan. Twenty-seven years later he moved to a farm near Woodbury residing in this vicinity until the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Mary Lowe in May 1876. To them were born two children both dying in infancy. The wife died on Sept 18, 1881. He was again married on Feb. 6, 1883, to Susanna Minkus. To this union were born four children, three daughters and one son. The eldest daughter, Jessie, preceded him in death fourteen years ago. At the age of thirty-four years he gave his heart to the Lord and joined the United Brethren church, living a faithful Christian life until the end. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed in his home and community. He leaves to mourn his loss, a loving companion, two daughters, one son, one grandson, five sisters, one brother and a host of friends.
