Nov. 3, 2018 KURT M. STAUFF, 63 Retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Kurt M. Stauff, 63, died unexpectedly in Nashville, TN on September 17, 2018. A veteran of the Gulf War and the War of Terror, Stauff served our nation 29 years. He was recognized as an extraordinary, Stalwart and inspiring leader and mentor; strong, positive role model; trusted advisor; superb trainer; outstanding instructor and technical expert; and an excellent leader with top quality management skills, Stauff was born on November 5, 1954 in Jackson, Michigan to Ernest and Darlene "Casey" Stauff. He graduated from Ionia High School. Kurt began his Navel careen in 1983 at Great Lakes Naval Training Center as a Sonar Technician with mid-career change to Mineman Specialist. He was stationed in several U.S. ports as well as Japan and Bahrain. Stauff served aboard the USS Georgia, USS Pargo, and USS Patriot. He is survived by his sister Karol Stauff of Fenwick; nephew Joshua Vallad of Ionia; niece Terra Dalton and family of Portland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kurt had a special connection with his Uncle Dave Stauff in Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen, and brother Keith. Kutt's internment with full military honors will be a tFt.Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. on Monday, Nov. 5, at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be at Shiloh Community Church, Orleans, on Friday, Nov. 16, from 6-8 PM with celebration of Life service on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11:00 AM., Pastor Ken Harger officiating.
