July 29, 2017 CASEY (DARLENE) STAUFF SANFFORD Casey (Darlene) Stauff/Sanford was freed on Friday, July 21, 2017 from that robber of mind and body, Alzheimer's disease, which she fought valiantly until her last breath. Her daughter, Karol, was able to care for her for three cherished years at home, only being in skilled care for three month, and one day suffering from the breathing issue that took her life. She reared four children plus a boatload of daycare kids for 20 years. She was "Dr. Casey" to many (working a an RN in Jackson, Michigan) and resident barber for children and adults alike. She was an avid and skillful athlete and had a wicked arm for pitching softball, horseshoes and bowling. She also loved fishing, boating, sailing, flowers and children. Her husbands, children and entertaining were her life. Her home and hospitality at Woodard lake have many memories of yards full of people - swimming, boating, food, campfires and singing. She had unconditional love and an open heart of acceptance for everyone She was an active member of the Moose in both Ionia and Ruskin, Florida, as well as the Eagles in Ruskin. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest A.C. Stauff, her second husband, Neil D.Sanford, her eldest daughter, Karen S. Vallad/Albert, and her youngest son, Keith F. Stauff. She is survived by her eldest son, Kurt M. Stauff of Nashville, Tennessee, her youngest daughter, Karol L. Stauff of Woodard lake, and two loving stepdaughters, Karen (Rick) Vorase of Elsie,Michigan, and Carla (Joe) Winter of Ponte Verda, Florida. Her loving grandchildren are Joshua (Meghan) Vallad of Ionia, and Terra (Jon) Dalton of Portland; step-grandchildren Terra, Tasha and Jack Hettler, Brittany Brown and Tyler Winter; and great-grandchildren Kendall and Jackson Dalton; and nine step-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2017 at Shiloh Community church in Orleans, Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating The service. Visitation and luncheon will run from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.. Please bring your memories of Casey, Oral or written. Memorial gifts can be made to Ionia Commission on Aging or the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the service or Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home where funeral care has been entrusted.
