Neal A. Stearns, age 93, of Palo passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, in 
Carson City.  He was born on June 3, 1921, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of 
Maurice and Ida (Andre) Stearns.  Both parents have preceded him in death.

On Jan. 4, 1940, Neal was married to Marjorie C. Tibbet and she preceded him in 
death on June 19, 2011.  Surviving are his children, Carmen and Dan Lindquist 
of Palo, Michigan, Steve and Sandra Stearns of Hopkins, Michigan, David and 
Marlinda Stearns of Scio, Oregon, plus six grandchildren, eight great 
grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Neal has been a longtime resident of the Palo area.  He held a master's degree 
in education and taught music for 10 years before a career change and became an 
insurance executive in the insurance business.  As a U.S. Navy veteran of World 
War II, Neal was a member of the VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan and also a member of 
the Palo United Methodist Church.

Funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, 
at the Palo United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Nalett officiating. 
Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the 
funeral service.  Interment will be at the Palo Cemetery in Palo.  The Simpson 
Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Stearns family with care and 
compassion.
