Stebbins, aged 96, of Boyne City, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Northern Hospital in Petoskey of complications after surgery. Evelyn was born the daughter of Frank and Edna (Case) Brooks October 1908 in Saranac. She graduated in 1926 from Clarksville High school. She then attended County Normal in 1927. She married Maurice Stebbins January 2, 1930 in Portland. Hs preceded her in death October 29, 1982. She taught in Ionia County Rural Schools for 11 years. She and Maurice were active in 4-H Clubs, Farm Bureau and former members of Easton Community Church. They lived on the Stebbins family farm in Easton Twp. for many years. After Maurice retired they spent several winters in Arizona. They moved to Boyne City in 1980 and after her husbands death she maintained her own home until 2002. Evelyn then moved on to the Meadows Senior Apartment in Boyne City where she would be one of its oldest members. She is survived by two daughters Marilyn Brown of Boyne City and Ann and Gerald Bremer of Shreveport, LA.; three grandchildren Sheri and Mike Bates of Grand Marais, Steven and Betina Carpenter of Fruitland Park, Florida and Thomas and Laura Carpenter of Traverse City. Six Great Grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. One brother Arlen and Marbella Brooks of Clarksville, sister-in-law Mary Brooks of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Harold and Lyle Brooks. Graveside services will be held on Monday 1 p.m. at Easton Cemetery with Rev. Tom Reaume officiating. Visitation will be on Monday 10 a.m. to Noon at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.
