Ionia Sentinel, 24 May 1956

Gerald B. Stebbins, 55, resident of Ionia the past 33 years died suddenly at 
his home on Tuttle road in Berlin township at 5:30 Thursday morning.  He had 
been a employee of the Michigan State Reformatory at Ionia for the past 33 
years.  He only recently moved with his family to a new home which was 
constructed in Berlin township.

He was born October 4, 1900 in Easton township the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. 
Stebbins.  Married to Erna Carstensen of Sheridan in 1923 he moved to Ionia the 
same year and started to work in the office of the Michigan State Reformatory.

He was a member of the Elks lodge in Ionia and the Masonic lodge in Sheridan.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Geraldine E. Stebbins at home; 
a sister, Mrs. Max Monningh of Ionia; five brothers, A. L. of Sheridan, H.W. of 
Lansing, Leland, Max and Melbourne of Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Boynton funeral 
home in Ionia.  The Rev. Heath Goodwin will officiate and interment will be in 
the Balcom cemetery.
