Hyland W. Stebbins, 87, of 1115 Chester Road, Lansing, died Wednesday in St.
Lawrence Hospital, Lansing.  He was a former Ionia resident.  He was born Feb.
9, 1897, in Ionia, the son of the late Lieut. Gov. Allen and Myrtle Stebbins. 
He was married Dec. 6, 1921, in Sheridan to the former Helen H. Hansen.  She
survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Hyland H. Stebbins of Tacoma, Wash., and Allen
Stebbins of Lansing; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  

He was a life member of the Pearl Lake Masonic Lodge, Sheridan, a veteran of
World War I, and was graduated in 1917 from Ferris State College.  He was a
retired builder.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Stebbins and Simpson Funeral
Home, the Rev. Robert Braman officiating.  Burial will be in the South Sidney
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  A
memorial has been established for the Michigan Heart Association in care of the
funeral home.
