Gladys C. Stebbins, of Ionia, passed away July 1, 2007 at the age of 102.  
Gladys was born on July 15, 1904, the daughter of Jay and Alta (Eagle) 
Harwood. She was a life-long resident of the Ionia area and worked as a 
commercial bookkeeper for local businesses. Gladys married Max Stebbins. 
Gladys was known for her love of children and genuine interest in others.

She is survived by her son, Larry Stebbins and several grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, 
Max; 2 infant children; sister, Lois Harwood and brothers Harold and Stanley 
Harwood.

Graveside services for family members were conducted at Saranac Cemetery on 
July 3, 2007 by Pastor Dennis Flattery of LeValley-Berlin Center United 
Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent to the Ionia Area Hospice, 601 E. 
Washington St., Ionia, MI 48846. Complete arrangements were handled by the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia.
