Hastings Reminder - Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015

Parchment, MI - Delores E. Stedge of Parchment, formerly of Delton, passed away 
at her home Nov. 11, 2015.
Delores was born June 12, 1923, in Ionia County, the daughter of John and Mary 
(Zbikowski) Carr. Delores graduated from Sunfield High School, class of 1939, 
where she excelled at basketball and was a point guard. She was a retired 
registered nurse, graduating from Franklin Boulevard Hospital School of Nursing, 
Chicago in 1944. During World War II, she was a cadet nurse. Following the war, 
she worked at the Barry County Medical Facility and at Nazareth Fontbonne Hall. 

Delores enjoyed nursing as a chosen career, but most of all she loved being a 
wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 
Parchment, where she sang in the choir. 

On November 29, 1948, Delores married the love of her life, Lynn L. Stedge, and 
he preceded her in death on June 29, 2006.

Delores is survived by children, Theresa Bond, Douglas (Sherry) Stedge and 
Phillip (Linda) Stedge, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and several 
nieces and nephews. 

Delores was also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three 
sisters; a great grandson; and a son-in-law, Sam Bond.

Her family will receive friends, Sunday, Nov. 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., 
where the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. at the William Gores Funeral Home, 
Delton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, 11 
a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Parchment. Rev. Fr. James O'Leary, 
celebrant. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery, at 2:30 p.m.
