Stedman, 68, died at the Ionia County Memorial hospital Monday afternoon. He was born April 25, 1882, in Ronald township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stedman. He attended Woodard Lake School and the Little Brick school, both in Ronald township. He was married May 8, 1906 to Pearl Miller. She died in May, 1913. He married Leslie Hillabrandt of North Plains in December, 1913. Stedman was engaged in farming until 1912. That year he took over as mailman on Star route. He operated Star route until 1920 when he returned to farming. He farmed until he retired because of ill health in 1940. He was the treasurer of the Palo school board for several years and for the past 15 years had been treasurer of Woodard Lake school. He was also a former Farm Bureau member. He is survived by his wife; one son, Millard B., of Star route; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Maxwell, Mrs. Frances Humphrey and Mrs. Margeret Tanner, all of Ionia; six grandchildren; two brothers, George and John, both of Ionia. Funeral services willb e held from the Palo Baptist church Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Paul Stewart will officiate. Interment will be in Woodard Lake cemetery.
