Ruth M. Stedman, 98, of Palo, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother 
passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1911, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Fred and Pearl 
(Ralston) Cantine. Mrs. Stedman was a longtime dedicated member of the First 
Baptist Church of Palo and was an avid gardener who could make anything grow.

Surviving are her three children, James Stedman of Boise, Idaho, Bruce (Gaye) 
Stedman of Ionia, and Mary Jane (Robert)Kuhtz of Ionia; daughter-in-law, Lois 
Stedman of Ionia; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several great-great-
grandchildren; two brothers, David (Anne) Cantine of Eaton Rapids and Keith 
(Rose) Cantine of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Millard “Cy” Stedman; son 
Richard Stedman; two brothers and a sister.

The Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Ionia, with Rev. Joseph Fremer, officiating. 
Interment will take place at Woodard Lake Cemetery, Ionia. The family will 
receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 p.m. until the time of 
the service. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the 
First Baptist Church of Palo or to the Charity of One’s Choice in memory of
