The daughter of Bert and Maud Coonrod McDiarmid, she was born May 12, 1914, in Clarksville. A devoted wife and mother, Frances always put her family first. She loved to play the piano, sing and also enjoyed cooking and needlework. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Eileen Lowry; three brothers, Donald McDiarmid, Melvin McDiarmid, Elmer Young; and two sisters, Grace Schilling, Betty Hart. She is survived by her husband, Carol Richard “George” Stedman; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Roger of Gowen; two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Dean and Margaret Stedman of Langston, Darrell Lee Stedman of Cedar Springs; son-in-law, James Lowry of Curtis; sister, Eleanor Simmons; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin St., Greenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
