May 30, 1929 Funeral Services Held at Palo For Mrs. Jas. Stedman Funeral services for Mrs. James Stedman, 61, of Palo, were held Sunday afternoon from the home and an hour later from the Palo Baptist church with Rev. N.D. Potter officiating. She had been ill since the first of the year, her condition becoming critical following an operation performed about a month ago. Mrs. Stedman had been a resident of Palo for more than 40 years although she was born in Evergreen township and had lived the earlier years of her life in Montcalm county. She was well known to visitors at Long Lake due to the fact that she and Mr. Stedman were in business there for several seasons. She was very active and greatly interested in fraternal work and took an important part in the affairs of the Palo chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was first married to Van Millard who died in 1914 and later was married to James Stedman, who survives her. She also leaves a son Elliot Millard, three step-sons, two brothers, Henry Arntz, Houghton Lake and Sherman Arntz, Greenville and three grandchildren.
