Steele, daughter of Mrs. Jessie J. Steele, 136 High Street, died at the home of 10 o’clock Monday morning following an illness of only a few hours. Miss Steele had not enjoyed the best of health for some time but her death came as a shock to members of her family and friends throughout the city. Miss Steele worked in the office of the city clerk while her brother, Donald M. Steele, held that position. She at one time worked in the office of the Quality store. Michael Steele, father of Miss Steele, died suddenly about 16 years ago. A brother, William Steele, was drowned near the fair grounds, and another brother, John Steele, was killed on a train between Ionia and Grand Rapids. Miss Steele was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church of this city. She is survived by her mother, a sister, Miss Mary Steele, who has taught in Montana for a number of years, and a brother, Donald M. Steele, who is employed in a printing office in Mt. Pleasant. Her brother who had been in Ionia to spend the weekend was here at the time of her death.
