The Ionia County News, Thursday, December 13, 1934

Mrs. Helen Steele died at 2:30 Tuesday morning, December 11, at her home, 424 
Taylor Place.

Mrs. Steele was born in Cape Cod, Mass., 83 years ago, and came to Michigan 
when she was nine years old.  For the past 14 years she has lived in Ionia, 
with her daughter, Miss Zilpha Steele, a teacher in the Emerson school.  Mrs. 
Steele is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Roy Vandermark, of Byron , 
Michigan.; a son, James, and one sister, Mrs. S. H. Epley, of Rushville Ind.  
She also leaves 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral will be from the residence Thursday afternoon at 1:30 and the 
Methodist church at two o’clock.  Burial in Highland Park cemetery.
