Ionia Sentinel Standard, 13 Jul 1964

Jessie Douglas Steel, 80, educator more than 35 years, died Saturday evening at
Ionia hospital.  She resided at 16 Lovell place.  She was born in Ionia,
December 7, 1883, daughter of William M. and Nancy Steele and received her
education at Ionia high school, Eastern Michigan university at Ypsilanti and
Columbia University in New York.  She taught at Portland, Cadillac and Ionia
over 35 years, retiring in 1950.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Arthur A. Hadden of Ionia; a niece, Mrs. William
Linehan of Royal Oak, and a cousin, Mary Steele of Ionia.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stone-Kauffman funeral home with
interment at Highland Park cemetery.
