The death of Mrs. Carl Steele occurred at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Olds, Tuesday afternoon from pneumonia. Although it was known and understood that she was quite sick Mr. Steele had been encouraged to think the turning point had been reached and she was growing better, consequently it came with extra force. The funeral services are held today. She leaves, besides her husband and parents, two small children which makes it additionally sad. The sympathy of many friends is extended them in the hour of their affliction. ------------ Mrs. Carl Steele ‘Mid beautiful flowers, the remains of Mrs. Elma A. Steele rested last Thursday. The news of her death came like a thunder bolt from a clear sky, giving all her friends a terrible shock. The funeral services were conducted from her father’s home by Rev. G. Quick, last Thursday afternoon. The high esteem in which she was held by her friends was demonstrated by the profusion of flowers which covered the casket. The casket was banked by roses, geraniums and cala lilies, the lovely pillow presented by the postmaster, clerks, and carriers, also the spray of carnations by the class of ’02, touched the hearts of the family very tenderly. Those from out of town were her aged grandfather Lyman Russell, and uncle Bryant Russell from Luther; Frank Strong and wife, Edgar Steel and wife, Agnes Edna, Charlie and Ina Steele from Grand Rapids. The pall-bearers were Lewis, Edgar and Charlie Steele, Frank Strong, brother-in-laws, Bruce Fales cousin, and her only brother Robert Olds, she was tenderly laid to rest in the Otisco cemetery. ------------ Smyrna – Quite a number from here attended the funeral of Mrs. Carl Steele of Cook’s Corners.
