The Ionia County News, Thursday, January 19, 1922

Ben Steer, who died at the home of his son Howard of Elsie, was brought here 
for burial Sunday.  Mr. Steer was 78 years of age and until a few years ago 
his home was in this village.    The funeral services were held in the M.E. 
church and among those from out of town who attended were Mr. and Mrs. William 
Steer of St. Johns, Ben Steer and son Howard of Elsie, Mr. and Mrs. William 
Kenny and Mrs. and Mrs. Glen Sanborn of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Janes and 
daughter Dorothy of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Steer and family of 
Belding, William and James Steer of Crystal and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wirtz of 
Ionia.  After the services the relatives were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. 
Kling for dinner.
