Steere, and mother of W. C. Steere, passed away at the home of last named, on East Washington street, at 10:30 o’clock this morning, after the brief illness of about one week, death resulting not so much from the ravages of disease as the breaking up of vital forces. Funeral on Monday afternoon, at 2:30 o’clock, attended from the home where she died. Deceased was aged 77 years, past. She was a native of Tunkhannock, Penn. Mr. and Mrs. Steere were highly esteemed residents of Stanton for 35 years, but for the four years last past, spent most of the time in Ionia, with the family of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Steere. The aged couple had been married 51 years, and it will indeed seem hard for the one to live without the companionship of the other. Deceased was a charter member of the Baptist society of Stanton, strong in the faith, and an ardent worker in the church circles. While not as widely known in this city, yet she was esteemed as a choice woman by all who had made he acquaintance. Two children survive the good mother; George S. Steere of Chicago (who is unfortunately ill at this writing, with pneumonia), and W. C. Steere of this city.
