Ionia Sentinel Standard, 29 Feb 1940

Mrs. Bertha Steinhauer, 86, died Thursday morning, Feb. 29, at 11 o’clock at the
Grand Valley hospital in Ionia where she has been a patient for the past five
weeks.  Mrs. Steinhauer has been in failing health for about three years.

Bertha Bunkart was born February 20, 1854, in Germany and married August Nimz in
1874.  They moved to the United States in 1883.  She has been a resident of
Ionia for 48 years.  Following the death of Mr. Nimz in 1901 she married Louis
Steinhauer in 1902.  Mr. Steinhauer died October 6, 1933.

Surviving are two sons, Gustave Nimz of Ionia, and August of Saginaw, one
daughter, Mrs. Carroll E. Johnson of Berkly, eight grandchildren, several great
grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

The body reposes at the Boynton funeral chapel pending funeral arrangements.

[Transcriber’s note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that she was
buried in Highland Park Cemetery.]
