She was born in Germany April 8, 1865, the daughter of William and Anna Garbow. She was married to Ferdinand Steinke in Germany and came to the United States when she was 22 years old. They lived in Aberdeen, South Dakota for five years and then moved to Morley, Michigan where they lived on a farm 57 years. Her husband died in 1942 and for the past 10 years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hilda LeValley, on Rich street. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hilda LeValley and Mrs. Lena Hacker both of Ionia, seven sons, Fred of Muskegon, William of Grand Rapids, Herman of Minneapolis, Albert of Indian River, Rudolph of Midland, Arnold of Kalamazoo and Otto of Morley and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Immanuel Lutheran church of Howard city of which she was a member, Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Theodore Timler officiating. Interment will be in the Aetna cemetery in Morley. The body will be at the Boynton funeral home in Ionia until 11 a.m. Tuesday. Subsequent Publication: Wednesday, August 26, 1959 Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Steinke who died Sunday morning were held at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Howard City Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Theodore Timler of Ionia officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the Aetna cemetery at Morley. Pallbearers were her seven sons, Fred, William, Herman, Albert, Rudolph, Arnold and Otto.
