The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Friday, January 19, 1934


Word was received here today of the death in Detroit of May I. Stellberger, for 
many years a resident of Ionia. 

May Stellberger was formerly an owner of a well-known millinery shop in Ionia 
and had been employed in the J. L. Hudson store in Detroit since leaving Ionia.

She was the last of a family of former Ionians.  Her sisters, both of whom 
passed away years ago, also lived in Ionia.  Lettie was a former teacher at the 
public schools here, and for many years was principal of the Ionia high 
school.  Edith also taught in the Ionia schools.  Many Ionians remember May 
Stellberger as a true and loyal friend.

The body will be brought to Ionia, and burial will take place at Highland Park 
cemetery Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
