Ionia Standard, 9 Oct 1908

Mrs. Lettie V. Stellberger died Sat. morning, a little after 5 o’clock.  She was
a woman of unusual nobility of character and high attainments, giving herself to
her work as a teacher with single-hearted and conscientious devotion.  She
served in the Ionia school many years, in recent years as principal of the high
school, until disabled by illness during this year.  The value of a teacher is
as much in the personality as in mental requirements and activity, and few, very
few teachers have done as much for the Ionia schools as Miss Stellberger. 
Hundreds of pupils who have gone out into the world from the Ionia schools have
cause to remember her with deep gratitude, and will learn of her passing away
with a feeling of sadness.  In their lives is the true monument to her devoted
life work.  Funeral at the home, on West Lincoln avenue, at 2 p.m., Monday.
