Funeral services for John S. Stemler, 73, who died Thursday evening at his home 
in Danby township, were held Tuesday afternoon at Mapes funeral home in 
Sunfield.  Interment was in the family lot at Danby cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie, three daughters, Mrs. Vera Eastman and Mrs. 
Dorothy Wethy both of Lansing; and Mrs. Margaret Shortz of Route 1, Sunfield; 
two sons, Kenneth of Sunfield and John Herbert of Portland; one sister, Mrs. 
Mary Cogswell of Sunfield and a brother, Peter of Ionia.  Eighteen 
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive him.

Bearers were Carl Thrams, Burton Brown, Duncan McCormick, Harold Augst, Will 
Petrie and A.C. Haliday.
