Ionia Sentinel – 14 December 1953
Funeral Services for Phyllis Stencil, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stencil 
of Easton Township were held Wednesday at 2 pm from the St. John’s Lutheran 
church.  Prayer service was conducted at 1:30 pm from the Boynton funeral 
home.  The Rev. Eric Cash officiated.  Interment was at the Highland Park 
cemetery.  Bearers were four brothers James, John, Gerald and Richard.

Those from away were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hawn and V. W. Straub of Lansing; Mr. 
and Mrs. Victor Hawn, Mrs. Harvey Frandsen, Mrs. Fred Housemen, all of 
Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Swartz of Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. Marvel 
Church, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Possehn, and Mrs. Carl Houserman of Lake Odessa; 
Warren Wardwell of Traverse City; Mrs. John Dekkinga, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald 
Dekkinga, and Clifford Courtright of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Dewitt 
and Jimmy of Almont, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Possehn of Saranac; Mrs. Fern 
Wingeier of Lowell, and Mrs. Mary Zanto and Glen Zanto of Portland.
