Michael "Louie" Louis Stencel, 35, of Ionia passed away unexpectedly June 12, 
2006.  He was born on April 24, 1971 in Ionia. Those that knew Mike know that 
his passions were his family and racing. He is preceded in death by his father 
Burton "Bud" Louis Stencel.

Surviving are his loving wife of seven years, Becky; two beautiful daughters: 
Morgan and Ashlynn; mother Carolyn Thomas and her husband Leo; sister and very 
special brother-in-law, Colleen and Mike Wandell of Ionia; sister, Debbie and 
her husband Jake Springstein of Sheridan; sister, Lisa Stencel; nephew, Todd 
and his wife Teresa Wandell of Middleville; nephew, Tyler Wandell of Ionia; 
nieces, Jamie, Erica and April Sinclair of Carson City and Elaina, Zoe and 
Julia Mapes; and a great-nephew Bailey Sinclair; stepbrother, Chris and his 
wife Tammy Thomas and their family of Ionia; stepbrother, Scott Thomas; mother-
in-law, Cindy Corbett of Ionia; father-in-law, Steve Mapes of Belding; 
brothers-in-law, Tony and his wife Brenda Mapes of Ionia and Marc Mapes of 
Chicago; long time friend, Nathan and his wife Traci Gertz of Ionia; several 
special Aunts and Uncles.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor David W. Bogda at 11a.m. on 
Thursday, June 15, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church, 617 N. Jefferson, Ionia.  
Interment will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 
p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich, Ionia 
Chapel.  They will also receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service time on 
Thursday at the church. For those wishing memorial contributions may be made 
to the children's trust fund.
