Stephens Sr., 64, of Ionia, peacefully passed away on May 22, 2010, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was born Sept.25, 1945, in Ionia, the son of Robert Reed and Frances Stephens. He married Vicki (Hoffman) Stephens on March 27, 1964, in Ionia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, horseshoes, Sunday drives around the horn with his brother Terry and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #998 for numerous years.He worked at Motor Wheel in Lansing for 33 years until retiring in 1995. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Reed in 1987, mother Frances Stephens and mother-in-law June Hoffman in 2005, sister Doris Butler in 2006, niece Connie Smith in 2008 and father-in-law Donald Hoffman in 2009. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Vickie Stephens; children,Scott (Jennifer) Stephens of Ionia, Chuck (Amie) Stephens of Ionia, Katy (Gregg)Mahlich of Ionia, Mike (Jennifer)Stephens of Newaygo, and Nicole Stephens of Ionia; grandchildren, Jordan and Ryan Stephens; Taylor Stephens; Brandon, Cameron and McKayla Mahlich; Jordan and ashton Stephens; and Kaelyn ad Preston Daugherty; brothers, Bob (Loma) Stephens of Ionia, Terry (Debbie) Stephens of Ionia,Jerry Stephens of Saranac; brother-in-law Robert Butler of Ionia, brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Jeanie Utter, Holt; several nieces and nephews and cousins and a special family friend Tiffany (Klein) Scoby. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor John Prominski officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Charles Name to Ionia Moose Lodge #998 of Ionia or Sparrow Hospice of Lansing.
