STERKEN
Kay Lynn Sterken aged 81 of Lowell formerly of Saranac passed away September 
22, 2019. She was born July 18, 1938, the daughter of George Vanagas and 
Lauretta Rode.She married Bennie F. Sterken May 24, 1975. He preceded her in 
death October 23, 2015.

Kay volunteered at the Saranac Community Church, was a member of the 
Association of Michigan Basket Makers, former board member of Morrison Lake 
Association, and enjoyed scrapbooking and sailing.

Surviving are her step-children; Jeffrie Sterken of Waukesha, Wisconsin, 
Susan (John) Waters of Atlanta, Georgia, Craig (Sandy) Sterken of Essexville 
and Mark (Tina) Sterken of Casper, Wyoming. Grandchildren; Travis, Joshua, 
Brandon, John, January, Wesley, Kevin, Allison, Gregory, Samantha, Elizabeth, 
and Laciana. Great-grandchildren; Natilee, Ethan, Haylee, Aiden, Jet, Eli, 
Wyatt, Penelope, Finn and Levi.

Preceding Kay in death were her parents, husband Ben, sister Susan Walkes and 
grandson Brandon Kodey Sterken.

The family would like to thank Faith Hospice, the staff of Green Acres 
Assisted Living. Vicki Carpenter and Sue Cleary who were all instrumental in 
her care and making her last days peaceful.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of Kay's life 
Friday, October 11, 2019. 1 pm. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with 
Pastor Becky Poor officiating. there will be a visitation from 11-1 prior to 
services at the Funeral Home. Those wishing may make memorial contributions
