Portland Advertiser, 17 Mar 1868

Died.  Of Typhoid Fever, Nov. 27, 1868, William Sterling aged 52 years.  Mr. 
Sterling became a resident of Portland some eighth-teen years ago and always gave 
his influence on the right side of all the moral issues of the day in a very 
decided manner.  For some years previous to his death, he was one of the trustees 
of the M. E. Church, of which denomination he was a valued member.  To him Death 
had no terror, for in the strength of a living faith he triumphed.
