Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Tues. Aug. 3, 1948

Mrs. Catherine J. Stevens, 76, died Sunday, August 1, at the home of her 
daughter Mrs. G.D. Cleveland, in Detroit with whom she had lived for the past 
five weeks.

She was born in Ionia City Aug. 29, 1872, and spent her entire life here until 
she sold her home, located at 611 East Main street, five weeks ago and moved to 
Detroit to the home of her daughter. If she had lived, this year would have 
been the twenty-ninth year she and her son, Fred had run an eating stand at the 
Ionia free fair. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a charter member 
of the Women of the Moose. 

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. W.R. Stevens; Mrs. G.D. Cleveland and Nina 
Stevens, of Detroit; three sons, William, Fred and Thomas of Lansing; six 
grandchildren four great grandchildren, and one brother, Elmer Patterson, of 
Lansing.

Her services will be held from the Myers funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 
3:30 o’clock, with the Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. Interment will be in 
Highland Park cemetery.
