Stevens age 75, of Clarksville, has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief battle with cancer on July 23, 2005. He was born May 4, 1930 in Clinton County. The son of DeWain and Ellen W. Stevens, Richard served his country proudly in the Korean War, 1952-1953 serving in the U.S. Army. After returning home he started a 38 year career as a toolmaker for Oldsmobile, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #178 of Hubbardston for 55 years and was voted Mason of the year in 1989. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Lansing and attended Grace Brethren Church in Clarksville during his retirement years. Richard was a lifelong member of the Central Michigan Lapidary and Mineral Society. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lila (Krauss) whom he married June 25, 1950 in Hubbardston; two sons: Gregory (Glenda) of Lansing, Eric (Denise) of Boyne City; two grandchildren: Samantha and Joseph both of Lansing; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Judy Bozung of Fowler, Paul and Polly Matheson of St. Johns, and many loving nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Hubbardston, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2005.
