Garold A. “ Joe “ Stevens, 76, of Belding died Wednesday morning April 23, 2014 
at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.  Joe was born 
on March 19, 1938 in Mecosta County, the son of Arnold and Anna (Hollenbeck) 
Stevens. 

He retired from the City of Belding-Department of Public Works after 27 years 
of service.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and loved to cook for everyone 
especially making goulash and shepherd pie for his granddaughters.  Joe was 
married on November 28, 1960 in Greenville to Mary Hodges. 

Joe is loved and survived by his wife Mary and their children; Michael and 
Jackie Stevens of Sheridan, Leslie Stevens, Wendy Jo and Salvador Reyes, Jodi 
and Raechelle Stevens all of Belding, his grandchildren; Jeremy, Jake, Chris, 
Kylee, Autumn, Summer, Leslie II, Maston, Thomas and April, Tony and Shyla, 
Cooper, Becky, Taylor, Hailey, Alyssa, Kaidence, his great grandchildren; 
Aaliyah, Keylan, Thomas II, Abi, and two more on the way, his brother Amos 
Sharpe of Cedar Springs, two sisters; June and Dick Clouse of Howard City, 
Nettie Heminger of Belding and a sister in law; Alice Hodges of Greenville, 
several nieces, nephews, cousins and his close and dear friends; Ron and Karen 
Wireman.  He was preceded by his parents a grandson Joshua Lee Stevens, two 
granddaughters; Cara and Amber and a brother Gary Stevens. 

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.  No visitation or funeral 
will be held.  Inurnment will be later this summer in West Montcalm Cemetery, 
Greenville.  Memorials may be given to Spectrum Hospice.  Envelopes will be 
available at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where cremation services 
were entrusted.
