The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Friday, January 11, 1907


The remains of Abe. Stevens were brought here for burial from Matchwood, 
Mich., Wednesday.  Mr. Stevens was the father of Mrs. Jas. Haskins, of 
Matchwood.  Deceased left home New Years night for a camp eight miles beyond 
Lake Gogebic and was not found until Sunday.  He had evidently suffered an 
attack of heart failure, having been subject to heart disease.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. 
Johnson officiating. 

Deceased is survived by four children, three daughters and a son, Verne 
Stevens, who with Mrs. Jas. Haskins, accompanied the remains to Saranac.  
Interment in Saranac cemetery.
