Ionia Sentinel Standard, 16 Nov 1988

Leo E. Stevens, 79, of Henderson and formerly of Ionia, died Nov. 14 at Blodgett
Memorial Medical Center in grand Rapids.  He was born Jan. 9, 1909, in Clinton
County, the son of Edwin and Ellen (Kane) Stevens.

He was a retired mechanic, and lived most of his life in Ionia and Texas.

He married Arilla Bennett in Ionia Sept. 28, 1936.

Surviving are his wife Arilla of Henderson; two daughters, Sonja Crawford of
Lyons and Juanita Blaisdell of Flushing; three sons, Victor of Pinconning,
Ernest of Chapin, and Eric of Elsie; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
one sister, Dora Smith of Pottsboro, Texas, and one brother, Victor Shamp, also
of Pottsboro.  One son preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home in Elsie,
the Rev. James P. James officiating.  Burial will be in the Ford Cemetery in
Gratiot County.  Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
