Stevenson, 68, died suddenly at his home in Cleveland, O., Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 11. He was born in St. Johns on May 22, 1868, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Stevenson. He spent his childhood in St. Johns, and then his family moved to Greenville. He married Elizabeth Phelps in 1890 and after her death, he married Catherine Eggleston. He owned a dry goods store in Greenville and in 1893, he moved to Ionia and opened a store in partnership with Fred J. Whitney, his brother-n-law. He moved to Cleveland in 1900 where he became connected with the William Taylor Co., and lived there for the remainder of his life. He is survived by his wife Catherine, one son Frederick and one grandson Jack, all of Cleveland; a sister, Mrs. Fred J. Whitney of Ionia; and a brother, Frank C. Stevenson of Greenville. His other son Robert died in 1911. Funeral services will be held in Cleveland Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The remains will then be sent to Ionia and will arrive here at 3:30 o’clock Sunday morning on the Grand Trunk train. Episcopal prayer services will be held at the home of his sister, Mrs. Whitney, at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. Earl Kneebone. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. Subsequent Publication: Tuesday, November 17, 1936 Episcopal prayer services for Fred C. Stevenson, who died in Cleveland, O., Wednesday, November 11, were conducted by Rev. Earl Kneebone at the home of his sister, Mrs. Fred J. Whitney, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Burial was in the Highland Park cemetery. Pallbearers were Frederick Stevenson, Fred J. Whitney, Warner Eggleston, Frank V. Stevenson, Elroy Stevenson, and F. C. Stevenson. Mrs. Clark Welker, Mrs. A. B. Sibley, and Mrs. Jessie Smith-Faude had charge of the flowers. Those from out of town who attended are Mrs. Fred Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs. Warner Eggleston, Mrs. A. Selton, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Stevenson and son Jack of Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Stevenson and Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Stevenson of Greenville; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank V. Stevenson of Lansing.
