MARY JEAN (KREBS) STEWARD
Sunfield, MI - Mary Jean (Krebs) Steward died peacefully, surrounded by her 
family at her lifetime home in Sunfield on January 12, 2017.

Jean was born January 29, 1926 in the same family home, to Ernest and Lydia 
(Dell) Kreb. Jean attended Woodland School and enjoyed her friends and 
playing basketball. She graduated in 1943 and began working at Union Bank in 
lake Odessa.

She stopped working to marry her true love, Wayne E. Steward, on August 20, 
1947 in that same family home. A marriage that lasted until Wayne's death 63 
years later. From that marriage three children were born and raised.

Once the kids began school, Jean returned to the bank where she enjoyed 
working with her co-workers and serving her customer/friends. She retired 
from the bank after 30 years of service.

Jean loved Jesus and was a faithful member of the Sunfield United Brethren 
Church. There she served in many ways including teaching Sunday School and 
being a long time member of the Women's Missionary Society.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lydia Kreb; husband 
Wayne; and grandchildren, Jana and Joel Briggs.

Surviving are her children, Jim (Glenda) Steward, JoAnn (Jerry) Briggs, Scott 
(Lori) Steward; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff at River Inn AFC for their great love and 
care of Jean during her stay there.

The funeral service was held Tuesday Jan 17, 2017 at Sunfield United Brethren 
church.
