Russell Lee Stewart, age 78, of Cosby, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the 
University of Tennessee Medical Center with a heart attack.  He was born 
October 24, 1929, in Muskegon, MI, the day the stock market cashed.  He was 
the son of, Russell H. Stewart and Henrietta (Walda) Stewart. On November 28, 
1957, in Lyon, Michigan, Russell married Lois Jane Currigan, daughter, of John 
W. Currigan and Marion (Cross) Currigan. They celebrated their 50th Wedding 
Anniversary, November 28, 2007. 

Mr. Stewart was a graduate of Muskegon Senior High School, January 1948; 
Muskegon Junior College, June 1950, Michigan State University June 17, 1959- 
Electrical Engineer, was employed 20 years, Research Scientist-Dow Chemical 
Co., Midland, Michigan, retired after 20 years. He lived in Florida 10 years, 
moved to Cosby where he lived of 16 years. He was a veteran having served in 
the United States Navy from January 17, 1951 until November 19, 1954, during 
the Korean War. 

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, brother and step-
father. Surviving besides his spouse, are his son, Cole (Debra) Stewart, of 
Sneffer, FL; two grandchildren, Nicole and Casey Stewart; sister-in-law, 
Dianne VanderVelde; niece, Chris Jensen, Muskegon, MI and several grandnieces 
and grandnephews. 

A memorial service will be held 8:00 pm, Friday January 25, 2008 in Manes 
Funeral Home West Chapel, with Steve Johnson officiating. The family will 
receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the memorial 
service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart 
Association or American Diabetes Association, Knoxville Office, 900 E. Hill 
Avenue, Site 240, Knoxville, TN 37915
