Henry Stickley, former butter maker at the Clarksville Creamery, passed away Sunday at the Battle Creek Sanitarium Hospital where he had been a patient since Sept. 20th. Mr. Stickley was born October 24, 1891 at Burnips Corners in Allegan County. He was married to Miss Ouida Allen of Byron Center on his 21st birthday in 1912. They celebrated his birthday and their 60th anniversary at the hospital. The couple made their home in Clarksville from March 1915 to May 1937 where he was employed as butter maker at the Clarksville Creamery which burned in May 1937. He was a Life Member of the Clarksville(Masonic Lodge.He loved the game of baseball and played for the Clarksville Independents team for many years. He coached the high school team one year, winning the County Championship. The Stickleys moved to Battle Creek in August 1946 and he was employed at the U.S. Register Co., until his retirement in September 1958. A daughter, Veryle, died in May 1932 at age of 18 years. Surviving are his wife, Ouida and two daughters, Mrs.John (Wanda) Wolverton of Okemos and Mrs.Nelson(Betty) McLeod of Battle Creek, and four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Phillip of Hopkins. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley Funeral Home in Battle Creek with burial in Hicks Cemetery, Battle Creek. Additional Comments: Hick's Cem.
