Mrs. Jacob Stiffler, who has been a resident of Danby township since June, 1856, passed away at her home last Tuesday afternoon, after suffering for about two years from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Stiffler, whose maiden name was Miss Susanna Powell, was born in Seneca county, Ohio, March 4, 1832. In 1850 she was united in marriage to Jacob Stiffler, who passed before her 23 years ago. After a residence in Ohio until 1856 they moved to Danby, where both resided until they answered the last summons. Mrs. Stiffler is survived by one brother of Kansas, Ohio, besides the following children, Amanda, who resides in Seattle, Wash., Benton, who resides on a part of the old homestead, Warren, the youngest son, who with his wife had lived with deceased and cared for her during her long illness. Funeral services were held at the late home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. William W. Slee, of the M. E. church, of which denomination Mrs. Stiffler had been a member since childhood. Burial was made in Portland cemetery. During her long residence in this locality Mrs. Stiffler had formed a large circle of friends who deeply mourn her demise.
