Jan. 19, 2010 Dale L. Stiffler, of Portland, age 78, passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2010 from complications following open heart surgery. He was born on July 20, 1931 to Forrest and Mary (Wheeler) Stiffler. Dale married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Trierweiler in 1951. And she survives him. He retired from Motor Wheel Corporation in 1991. Dale is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children Sue (Bob) VanLente, Cindy (Jerry) Selden, Linda (Kevin) Goodwin, Steve (Geralyn) Stiffler, Doug (Beth) Stiffler, Jerry Stiffler, Sharon (Pat) Lay, Carol (Brian) Russell, Kim (Jerry) Smith and Trina (Dave) Hengesbach; 40 grandchildren; 27 great-grand- children and another due in August, which will bring Dale’s total immediate family to 100. In addition, he is survived by siblings Ted (Orpha) Stiffler, Barb (Bob) Hendee and Robert (Connie) Stiffler; in-laws Pat Trierweiler, Charles Trierweiler, Rose Bengel, Butch (Sandy) Trierweiler, Kay Sillman and Vic (Donna) Trierweiler; brother-in-law Harv (Diana) Burgoyne; numerous nieces and nephews and any, many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; his in-laws Victor and Mathilda Trierweiler; sisters-and –brothers-in-law Ken Trierweiler, Patty Trierweiler, Jean Trierweiler, Tom Bengel, Barry Sillman, Eileen Burgoyne and Mary Ann Trierweiler; grandchildren Andrew Russell and Heather Stiffler; great-grandson Garrett Goodwin. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m., Tuesday and 3 p.m., Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Patrick Athletic Association, 140 Church St.; Portland.
