Ionia Sentinel Standard, 27 Nov 1982

Howard E. Stiles, 73, of 673 Bagley, Ionia, died Friday morning in Ionia County 
Memorial Hospital.

Born April 1, 1909, in Lyons Township, he was the son of Jesse and Anna 
DeLavergne Stiles.  He was married to Ida C. Witmar in Ionia Jan. 4, 1928, and 
they lived their married life in Ionia.

He was employed by Dow-Smith Co. for 22 years prior to his retirement in 1966.  
He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Charles and Dale of Ionia, two daughters, 
Mrs. Dee (Joyce) Yaw of Saranac, and Mrs. Lyle (Patricia) Stalter of 
Clarksville, 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.  One son, Howard, 
preceded him in death in 1967.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from the Lincoln Avenue Baptist 
church, with the Rev. Larry Frye officiating.  Burial will be in Lyons 
Cemetery.  A memorial for Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church has been established.  
The family will be at Myers-Roetman Funeral Home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and 
Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
