The Belding Banner, Thursday, September 29, 1960


Fred Stiles, age 85 years, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 18, at 
Coopersville.  He was born July 9, 1875 at Coopersville.  He was married to 
Mabel Howe, November 1914, in Ionia.  She was a sister of the late Fred Howe.  
They made their home at Coopersville all their life.  He was a conductor on the 
railroad many years at Grand Rapids.

Mrs. Stiles passed away February 18, 1927, when their son Paul was just two 
months old.  Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howe took Paul and raised him as their son.  Mr. 
Stiles is survived by two sons, Rex, who lives on the old homestead at 
Coopersville and Paul who is a minister at Manistee, and six grandchildren.  

The funeral was held Wednesday September 21, at 2 o’clock at the funeral home 
in Coopersville with interment at Coopersville cemetery beside his wife.
