Ionia Daily Sentinel, 10 May 1913; Ionia Standard, 16 May 1913

The funeral for Amos Stilson was held this morning from the Methodist church at
Palo.  Mr. Stilson was 83 years of age and for many years a resident of that
place.  Burial will be in South Boston cemetery, the funeral party driving from
Palo to Ionia and from Ionia to the cemetary, a distance of over 25 miles.

Ionia Standard – Friday, 16 May 1913

Amos Stilson, 83 years old, died Thursday morning at his home in Palo.  He was 
a veteran and well known here for his musical contributions to Memorial Day 
programs and similar events.  The funeral will be held at the Palo Methodist 
church tomorrow morning at ten o’clock fast time.  Burial will be in Balcom 
cemetery.  He leaves a widow and one son, Chas. Stilson of the city.

[Transcriber's Note:  We have found no explanation for the discrepancies in
these two obituaries.  His death certificate (as Amus Stilson) on the Seeking
Michigan web site gives a death date of 8 May 1913.]
