All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net July 25, 2013, 3:07 pm The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, January 27, 1938 Fighting a courageous battle against death five-year-old Sally Kay Stitt, adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stitt of Easton township, succumbed to lobar pneumonia at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Bradley, 439 West Washington street, at 6:15 o’clock Wednesday night. Stricken with pneumonia January 17 after suffering a sight cold, the child was placed in an emergency oxygen tent brought to Ionia from Grand Rapids last Friday. Hope of saving the child’s life was abandoned early Wednesday when her condition became decidedly worse. She is survived by the parents, a brother, Charles Stitt and a sister, Joan Bradley. She entered school for the first time at the Goodwin district rural school in Easton township last September and was in the kindergarten there. Funeral services are to be held from the Stitt home in Easton township Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. Paul L. Stewart of Ionia will officiate and interment will be at the Easton cemetery.
