She was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Lansing, Mich., the daughter of Harold and Erma (Praay) Jolley. Dorothy lived in the Lansing area until about 1955 when she moved to the Ionia area. Dorothy is survived by her children, Carole L. Boyce (Robert) of Kalamazoo, Mich., Susan M. Rowlee of Covert, Mich., Roger W. Stobert (Tracie) of Canadian Lakes, Mich., Vivian A. Dawson (Mark) of Ionia, Mich., Lon H. Sandborn of Muir, Mich.; brothers, Wayne Jolley and Harold Jolley, Jr. both of Grand Ledge, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands, Herbert K. Stobert and Allen R. Sandborn; son, Gary K. Stobert; grandchildren, Kurt Vargo and Sarah Dawson; brothers, Rex Jolley, Don Jolley, and Ray Jolley; sister, Maxine Ingram, and companions, Don Steinke and Jack Sheets. Dorothy's outgoing, cheerful, and energetic personality made her special in the hearts of many. Dorothy loved to attend family gatherings, play cards and bingo, ceramics, sewing, bowling, roller skating, and swimming. She earned several powder puff trophies car racing at Crystal and worked at both Crystal & I-96 speedways. In later years she enjoyed volunteering at Christian Services and at the VA in Battle Creek. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the Zion United Methodist Church in Ionia. The family will receive friends and family at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Dorothy's name to Zion United Methodist Church, Ionia Humane Society, or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
