Funeral services will be held from the Neller funeral home in Portland, Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock with burial in the family lot, Portland cemetery. Mrs. Stocum was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Burriss, born in Ohio, and moved to Ionia county in the Gorham district when she was 15 years old. She later became one of the first teachers of the district. She was the oldest child of the family. Following her marriage she lived at Tremaynes Corners for several years, her children attending school in Ionia. They later moved to Mulliken and to Portland where her husband died about nine years ago. Since his death she has been living with her children. Surviving her our five children, William, of Portland, Rollin, of California, Court, of Lansing, John, of Mulliken, and Mrs. Warford, of Lansing, one sister, Mrs. James P??kins, of Lyons, and one brother, O.J. Burriss, of Belding, and five grandchildren.
