Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2 Jan 1973

Mrs. Julia J. Stoddard, 76, and a lifelong resident of the area, died January 1 
in Carson City hospital.

Born April 3, 1896 in North Plains township, she was married to Edger Stoddard, 
who preceded her in death.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic 
church of Hubbardston and mother of a large family.

Surviving are seven sons: Allen of Proctorville, Ohio, Lester of Muskegon, 
Harold of Central Lake, Gene of Sanford, John of Hubbardston and Donald and 
Clarence of St. Johns.  Four sons preceded her in death, Alton, Gerald, Robert 
and an infant son.

Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Caris and Mrs. Patricia Osborne of 
Pewamo; Mrs. Joanne Kimball of Lyons, and Mrs. Ellen Silvernail of Ionia; two 
sisters, Mrs. Anna Grace of Lansing and Martha McKeone of Hubbardston; 58 
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  The body is at Burns-Schnepp 
funeral home in Carson City where friends and relatives may call Tuesday and 
Wednesday evenings.

Prayers will be recited beginning at 8 o’clock both evenings.    Funeral mass 
will be at 10 a.m. January 4 at St. John the Baptist Catholic church, with Fr. 
E. R. Fox of Hubbardston officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
