Belding News, 6 May 1909

Daniel E. Stokes died last Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. 
Jennie Hansen, in Greenville, aged 75 years.

Mr. Stokes located in Otisco way back in the early forties, where he resided on 
a farm for a few years, after which he purchased a farm in Eureka township, 
about five miles northwest of this city, where he resided up to about ten years 
ago when his wife died and he moved to Greenville to live with his daughter.  
He was one of the oldest members of Greenville lodge, F.& A.M.  He was uncle to 
Mrs. Fred Purdy of this city and to L.E. Tuttle of Otisco, and is survived by 
two children, Mrs. Jennie Hansen of Greenville and Murat Stokes of Joliet, 
Ill.  Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock this forenoon.  Interment in 
the family lot in the Otisco cemetery.
