He had been seriously ill for the past two weeks. He was transferred to the University of Michigan hospital from the Ionia County Memorial hospital two weeks ago. Death followed by five years a fall from a roof while he was painting at which time three of his vertebra were fractured. He had been in a wheel-chair for several years, although he directed operation of Stone’s grill until it was sold January 1, 1946. A painter and decorator by trade, he was forced to retire five years ago because of his physical condition. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Delos Stone of Ionia and was born May 31, 1910. Following the death of his father he continued their painting and decorating business. He was graduated from Ionia high school in 1927, and was a member of the Ionia Presbyterian church. Surviving besides his wife, Laura, are three sons, Charles, Douglas and Thomas. Funeral services are to be conducted from the Boynton funeral home Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery. The Rev. Adam Westmaas, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate.
