The Portland Observer, Thursday, February 12, 1953

On Wednesday of last week Miss Ala M. Stone died in New York City, where she 
was spending the winter months.  Her home was in Holland, Mass.

Miss stone, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Stone, attended school in 
Portland, later moving to Allegan with her parents.  She was a graduate of 
Columbia University and from 1915 to 1936 was in charge of the lower school at 
the Brearley School in New York City.  She was also in charge of the school at 
Aiken, South Carolina, and was connected with the Spence School in New York 
city.

Burial was at Allegan on Saturday.  Miss Stone was a sister of Mrs. Lorenzo 
Webber, of Portland.  Also surviving are brothers, Charles Stone, of 
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Ethol Stone, of Allegan.
